Michael Adebayo Olayinka, the well-known Nigerian singer professionally known as Ruger, has shared insights into how the fans of the late singer Mohbad played a role in his unfortunate passing.

Mohbad, a former artist under the Marlian Record label owned by Naira Marley, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances.

Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, faced accusations of being involved in Mohbad’s sudden demise. This followed the circulation of various documents and videos showing them subjecting Mohbad to relentless bullying after he left the record label, which gained attention on social media.

However, during his recent interview with UK-based media personality Adesope Olajide on the ‘Afrobeats Podcast,’ Ruger pointed out that fans had complicated matters for Mohbad before his untimely death. He held the late singer’s fans responsible for not providing adequate support when he decided to part ways with the record label.

“I don’t know whether the label was Mohbad’s problem or not. I just want you all to know that the label was not only his problem, but the fans were his problem too.

“Because as soon as he left the label, I don’t think people continued listening to him anymore. I feel like they were just attached to the fact that he was a Marlian,” he said.
