Breaking News: Federal Government Engages In Talks With NLC, TUC Regarding Nationwide Strike

November 15th, 2023

The Nigerian federal government is presently engaged in discussions with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) concerning the ongoing nationwide strike.

This meeting is being held at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), and notable attendees include the Minister of Labour, Simon Bako Lalong, Minister of State, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha, and NSA Nuhu Ribadu.

Labor leaders, including TUC President Festus Osifo, NLC Secretary General Emmanuel Ugboaja, and others, are also present at the meeting.

It’s worth noting that the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) initiated a nationwide strike, seeking the apprehension of suspected thugs and their backers.

This development follows an attack on the NLC president in Owerri, Imo State capital, on November 1, during a protest by state workers demanding unpaid salaries.
